Ose Cornelisse is Back by Dope Demand!
Born in the Netherlands, Ose Cornelisse got her international creativity handed to her as if it were a completely natural thing. With a Surinamese father and a Dutch/Norwegian mother, it comes as no surprise that this Rietveld Art Academy graduate designer arrives with a flaming bag line. Colorful and daring, but even that is no coincidence .
The name Monocerose, is a combination of the Latin word for Unicorn ¨Monoceros¨ and her own name ¨Ose ¨. During one of her visits to the international fashion designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac – also known as JC/DC- he told her that the translation of her name Ose translates to ¨dare¨ and that ¨Cornelisse¨ translates to the ¨horned¨. Ultimately this explanation and the name ¨Monocerose Cornelisse¨ inspired Ose to use the ‘unicorn’ as a symbol and as a logo to be used for her label.

BAG TO EGYPT
The inspiration for the design of the collection “Bag to Egypt ” comes from Egypt which is not entirely surprising. Typical Egyptian elements are processed in style and with class via asymmetric and symmetric shapes and combined with bright colors and a flamboyant appeal. The first collection is made up of four bags, including a backpack. It is accompanied by the accessories line consisting of a wallet, a key ring and a set of four badges . Each Monocerose item is handmade out of the finest leather. A gold logo detail adds an even more luxurious look to the collection. An off-the-wall leather bag that is perfect for the confident woman with a distinctive style. I so totally love the campaign photo’s, don’t you?
In order to be able to launch a new brand like Monocerose it was chosen to secure financing of the first collection through crowd funding. This will be done via the international crowdfunding website ” Kickstarter ” . Kickstarter helps young creative people to realize their projects. With this Ose hopes to link her brand and products directly to the right target audience. Have a look at this fabulous campaign video with music of Ibibio Sound Machine ( Remix of ” Let’s Dance ” by Hello Skinny ).
